Our Story

The Mabel Horton & Billy Jones Foundation was founded by Billy D. Jones Sr. in honor of his mother Mabel Horton Jones-Billingslea, a lifelong passionate Educator in the Detroit Public Schools system for 27 years. Mable was a strong advocate of education and dedicated her life to teaching children. The organization is a charity ministry established in 2015 to support positive humanity and good will initiatives to help advance the lives of youth.

Our Focus

The Mabel Horton and Billy Jones Foundation is dedicated to addressing the various barriers that underrepresented individuals face when it comes to accessing necessary resources and mentorship for higher education. These barriers encompass a wide range of challenges, including limited financial resources, lack of quality education, limited exposure to mentors and role models, as well as systemic inequalities and social and cultural barriers. Our foundation firmly believes in the importance of breaking down these barriers and creating an inclusive and equitable environment. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive and empowering atmosphere that enables underrepresented youth to thrive and achieve their aspirations. By providing the necessary resources, mentorship programs, and advocating for systemic changes, we aim to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, has equal opportunities to succeed in higher education.

Vision Statement

The Mabel Horton and Billy Jones Foundation has a powerful vision to create a transformative impact on underprivileged youth by providing them with educational opportunities and resources. We firmly believe that every individual, regardless of their socio-economic background, deserves the chance to achieve their academic and career goals. Education is a remarkable tool that has the power to break the cycle of poverty and open doors to a brighter future. Our foundation is dedicated to equipping underprivileged youth with the necessary resources, mentorship, and support to help them reach their full potential. By creating a level playing field for all youth, we aim to ensure that they have equal opportunities to succeed and thrive in their educational and professional journeys.
